Field Trip: Dead Sea Scrolls, San Diego, CA

Wha —? "To Serve Man"?!

The Dr. Mrs. and I are off to lay eyes on some of the Dead Sea Scrolls today. They are in San Diego!

Who knew? I always thought they'd been found in some desert in the Middle East.

My favorite part of the Dead Sea Scrolls story? Well; since you asked —

It's the bit about how the poor feller who found them was USING SOME OF THEM AS FIREWOOD before someone realised what he'd stumbled upon.

Ohh, yeah... every time I think about that the hairs on my neck stand up. There's a moral in there somewheres about the relative worth of literacy, history and civilization in general, depending on where you find yourself on Mazlow's Heirarchy of Needs.
