So I guess this means Mitt's five sons are free to run out and enlist....

Bad news, guys. Like your Dad and so many other war-hawk Republicans past and present, you opted out of actual military service.

But that's OK, because according to your father you were faithfully serving your country and your fellow citizens by tirelessly working in the higher calling of his presidential campaign. Hardly any difference at all between driving a Winnebago all over Iowa and an under-armored Humvee through Mosul, is there?

Well, now Dad has suspended the presidential campaign. Yikes. So we'll be seeing you guys down at the recruiting station, right?

Right?

Oh yeah, and the classy parting shot:

"In this time of war, I simply cannot let my campaign be a part of aiding a surrender to terror," the former Massachusetts governor said.

Uh Governor, 2006 called - it wants its slanderous fear-mongering back.

Yahoo! Cogito's back in the saddle! Good to see you up and around again...

Now for the bad news... you sound a tad more like a "divider" than a "uniter"... not that I mind; I've always been in favor of discrimination as a virtue.

Still -- shouldn't you be playing on *your* side of the fence? That's Sens. Clinton and Obama putting on a spectacle worthy of the Roman Circus Maximus... don't overlook it.

While I was more Romney than McCain, and more Thompson (initially) than either, you can bet I will be acknowledging that my candidate of choice has ever never been perfect, even when I cast a vote for John Anderson in 1980...

More to the point, now that the "war-hawk but non-serving" jibe has been twisted out of the Dems' hands (try applying it to McCain), I wonder what new irrelevancies will be thought up to distract from discussion(s) of issue(s) relevant to serving as the POTUS?

It's great to have you back -- the site is much more faceted and sparkly and interesting when it's not all me.

I've got an article in draft form on the authors' site bemoaning the fact that I'm reduced to choosing between my 4th and 5th choices, and how the process has come to this sad state. As our cousins' Grandma would have said: "I can't make-a my own decide."

Hopefully I'll publish it this weekend.

      Nice to be back!
