Cue the discordant violins: Roy Scheider + Gene Hackman in The French Connection, with music by Don Ellis. Still one of my favorite movies ever.
Historical note: Dad Wrymouth took me to see this movie in 1972 on the night it won the "Best Picture" Oscar.
All That Jazz is another favorite of mine. Saw it by myself one night in 19-whenever-it-came-out and was blown away, especially by the direction and editing by Bob Fosse. But Scheider's performance was a sardonic masterpiece, and I gained an immediate appreciation for the Vivaldi Concerto in G Major. Reply to this
The question is did anyone remember to give Roy money for passage.
