Back in Time
So, I'm sitting in the White Tower, IN the White Tower of the Tower of London, and am taking the time to appreciate that this room was first built in 1120 A.D.
And I'm sitting there.
Later, The Late Dr. Mrs. Wry Mouth made sure I noticed a wall I was passing, in front of the Tower of London tube stop, was, evidently, a 14-foot Roman wall from about 200 A.D., topped by another 20 feet of medieval masonry.
Oh, THAT wall.
Yes, we got photos.
I love London!

All right, but apart from the sanitation, medicine, education, wine, public order, irrigation, roads, the fresh water system, 14' masonry walls and public health, what have the Romans ever done for us? :D
Glad you're having a great time, Wry.

That line always reminds me of many university students I knew @ UCSB -- and many I still meet at the local ju-co.
Though i STILL have yet to see the whole film, the all of the People's Judean Front dialogue has entered my personal lexicon, as well as the equally pertinent "Romans Go Home" scene.

White Tower reminded me of White Castle, which reminded me of the best British travel advice ever given: Beware the Pub Mustard.
Which, Beware the Pub Mustard, wouldn't be a bad name for a band.
Have fun, and safe home.

Cheers, LJ!
We came; we saw; we concurred on many things, but we have yet to visit a proper pub and here we are in Edinburgh amongst the canny Scots... lucky for us we have a native Dundinian to sort things out.
Sadly, though, the Scots tend to be provincial down to the city level, so our Dundinian knows naught of Edinburgh. ;o)
Still, when we have the requisite pub lunch, we shall indeed Beware the Pub Mustard.
In gratitude, I will give you a piece of my father's hard-won advice:
A couple of seconds' ponderance will illuminate the wisdom of that thought.
