The Mojave Hot-Shots: My Kind of Band

** CAUTION ** MUSICAL LINK **
I caught an article in the Local section of the regional rag, The Desert Sun. Natch, the Local section is about the best part of the paper since the rest is national newswire rehash.
The Mojave Hot Shots are a jazz band out of the high desert town of Yucca Valley, and there's more than a touch of Squirrel Nut Zippers about them. Here's a Little Scene, courtesy the Desert Sun, of them playing at the local Air Museum:

The opening doubling of the guitar and violin is a very 'Bob Wills' voicing. Just add pedal steel!
Good stuff, wry, thanks for sharing that. (Hope to see you up there one fine day).

Wait a sec - do I recognize that little head movement? Is that Dave Cagill???
(I see from the article that it indeed is. Wow.)
Thanks for THAT, too, wry. ;0)

:O)
"I was afraid that's what it was." - Dave Caygill to Cogito, circa 1973, upon hearing the opening chords to BATJ being worked out on the band room piano - by Laxsaltman.

'Cept they were more like the opening "clinks". Kind of like when Bugs keeps missing the key where my hero,Yosemite Sam,(now you know the influence for the big-ass moustache.),has planted the dynamite so the notes kept coming out wrong.....LMAO

I can't make insightful musical comments, but the band are just great! I wish i could play an instrument. Tried the violin and the bagpipes, and in both cases, the instructor sent a fellow pupil to tell my class-teacher and classmates (and not sotto-voce I might add) that they did not wish me evr to return. Sigh. have forewarned my bell-ringing instructor to please let me know as soon as it transpires that I will never be any good.I will take it on the chin. As a former teacher, I knows the angst involved in having a keen and hardworking, but essentially clueless student. (That bit just sounds mean, and I don't mean it to be!I was a nice helpful teacher. Honesss.)
