Sci-Fi & Film Geeks Mourn the Passing of The Genius, Stan Winston

"What I will miss most is his easy laugh every time he said to me, 'Nothing is impossible.' "

— Steven Speilberg

If you liked Ray Harryhausen's work (I did; and still do) in special effects, and then Jim Henson's, you probably loved Stan Winston's. And is you are anyone who has seen pretty much any science-fiction or fantasy film (or dozens of others not classed as sci-fi) in the past 30 years, you've seen Winston's effects studio at work.

You Had to Be There: How is this not one of the top "gotcha" moments in movie history?

Film geeks the world over are probably feeling the same way some of us did when Henson died suddenly after a battle with the flesh-eating bacteria. Stan Winston has died, at 62, from multiple myeloma. He chose to make his mark on film, and to say he succeeded would be a vast understatement.

The list goes on and on, full of films you'd have to see and many you'd never want to see.
