Infinite Monkeys: A nice introductory discussion about one type of libertarianism
Courtesy the "Infinite Monkeys" blog, Here's a nice little discussion-starter, on two types of Libertarianism: the "freedom from" types, compared with the "freedom to" types.
In a year where many minor political parties have a golden opportunity to advance their causes, at the expense of the two bloated major parties, it's a good idea to look at some of them and decide for yourselves if we all need to be Married to being either a Democrat or a Republican.
Choice is central to any flourishing republic, says I.
Plus, Infinite Monkeys is the type of place where you can find pictures like this:

Tee hee.

Thanks very much for the link and kind words!

Infinite Monkeys... now new and improved!
The Infinite Monkeys are getting a facelift. Not one of those expensive, Beverly Hills facelifts. More like one of those suburban strip-mall, discount facelifts. But we've got a newish look, a sparkly new logo, and a fancy set-up that will let our dozen or so readers interact with the Monkeys like never before and eliminate 99.999 percent of comment spam. Did we keep the yellow color scheme? Check in Monday morning to find out!
And please check in often. The Monkeys are posting like never before on politics, culture and booze. In case you haven't heard, it's the Summer of Gin at Infinite Monkeys, which is a sequel to 2004's critically acclaimed Summer of Rum.
So who are the Infinite Monkeys, exactly? Nobody knows for sure. A couple of them are “consultants” (whatever that means); a few are full-time journalists (“professional” being too lofty a term to apply to their chosen trade); at least one works for the government; another is a small cog in the Vast Right-Wing Conspiracy; one runs a school; a couple have been manufactured out of banana leaves and twine. And somewhere out there lurks the legendary Dr. Monkeystein, who “retired” from blogging in 2005 but pops up from time to time.
What do the monkeys like? Food and wine, politics, music, booze, books, kids, philosophy, religion, booze, cheese, other monkeys, movies, TV, cats, books about booze, technology, the hermeneutics of booze.
Regards,
Jim Lakely

We put up with the Monkeys' self-aggrandizing behaviors because, well, they're monkeys, and we like them. You will, too. Check 'em out.
