Greatest Argument for a longer Primary Season and Shorter Campaign

From my July 7 post
"...   maybe the Clintons have an August surprise for the convention?"

I'm only hoping that the Democratic Party is feeling the same buyer's remorse that some of us others are experiencing.  If only the Primary Season wasn't front-loaded, Hillary would have been able to adapt and make up ground late, when she was winning, winning, winning.  Perhaps if they emulated the winner-take-all system of the Federal Balloting, or started running for office in late 2007 or (dare I say it) 2008 instead of 2006; then the Junior Senator from New York might have held off [BEWARE: easily misunderstood turn of phrase approaching, if you are easily insulted on racial lines and have little experience in conversational tones...  be wary, the next phrase, while sounding like it might have links to an ignorant dismissive adjective of the past (i.e. "uppity"), it really, truly has NO racial connotation.  None in the least.  I promise.  Cross my heart. None.  See, it in fact has to do with competition and unexpected strong participants, so it is fitting and proper to use.  Consider this a Diversity Training of sorts.  The subject is "When Not to Take Offense" or "How to Avoid Looking Like a Dweeb" or somesuch.  BEWARE] the upstart.

So we have what we have.  A presumptive nominee.  In both parties, no conventions having been held.  I'm just hoping that the Democratic Party can find someone in its midst who can put America ahead of the Party.  The whole country, not just the blue, but include the red, too:  all 57 states. For eight or ten years, or whatever...  it's not important.

I just hope beyond hope that my First Lady or First Gentleman would be proud of little things like, I dunno, The launch of the first Space Shuttle, the fall of the Berlin Wall, liberating Kuwait, taking in the boat people, Landing on Mars three or four times, Famine Relief, Tsunami Relief...

Is it possible that the Democratic Party could find a nominee — a nominee who, win or lose, will get FULL SECURITY BRIEFINGS, by the way — that could maybe qualify for Security Clearance without his party's nomination?

Is it too much to want a President who will not go to other countries and apologize for being an American.  Some of those countries wouldn't have LIGHTS without our involvement in their history.  Is it too much to find a nominee that will understand that the President is an office, not a person, and when a sitting President apologizes for or is embarrassed by a former President - he diminishes the entire country and what we are and will become.  Our President should not go cap-in-hand to any other country in the world.  He should be diplomatic and polite and a good guest, but never prostrate.

I hope those briefings help the Democratic nominee learn some things before January 21, and I hope he has the sense to keep the briefings to himself.

Of course, the Democrats have someone who already understands these things, and probably would have nominated her, if they ran their primary season as they had in the past.

We young whipper-snappers have to realize that the old guard knows what they're doing.  We shouldn't change just for the sake of change
