The Death of Journalism: A Continuing Saga: Some People, If They Don't Know, You Can't Tell 'Em
Exhibit #AAC in the continuing documentation on the Death of Journalism, or perhaps the Rise of The Historically Ignorant as Information Source, comes to us courtesy — whom else? — the International Herald Tribune, "Global Edition of the New York Times" and some pitifully stupid headline writer. If I were author David Barboza, I would demand an apology.
If you don't get the awfulness of it, then you are most likely (a) born after 1977 or so, and (b) never paid attention in any class discussing world politics.
Thankfully, when I show this to Wry Jr., I know he will bark an astonished laugh and shake his head in wonder. Another reason I am a proud poppa.
** UPDATE **
I was right; he did. But the laugh conveyed more "incredulity at the idiocy," rather than mere astonishment. I was pleased with the nuance.
