Whoa. Nostalgia Surge.

Had to come down into downtown Palm Springs early evening to make a run to Big 5 Sports for my son. I made the approach running south parallel to the classic Palm Canyon Drive, past the stark outlines of the old stone Community Church. And I was struck by the memory of this place being my turf, back when we were the young turks in the valley. The late summer heat, Mt. San Jacinto black in front of the dark blue sky, people walking the Palm Canyon Strip in the early evening, washed me of a sudden with a powerful surge of nostalgia, not missing those high school nights lost meandering about town in the warm early nights of the school year, the football season in high gear — not missing them, no; but very glad to have had them, and had them with so many good friends.
