Plus, I have always been a mite amused by the popular and literally ridiculous use of "aholic" as a meaningful suffix...
.... That, and sticking the suffix "Gate" on any ol' word to use as a scandal label.
Living language is one thing; I suppose it is too much to ask that the living language also be rational.

Me too. It's an eye-roller for me when people do that.
So,moving foward,let's hit the ground running,and push the envelope as we think outside the box,if you will......Because back in the day it was at the end of the day......Are you pickin' up what i'm puttin' down?
