Election 08: It's Nice to See So Many Happy People

... no; really. This might seem bizarre to some (for those, I feel sincere pity), but it has been gratifying to see very many people that are over-the-moon about Mr. Obama's election.

Setting aside the irrational and the unrealistic and the outright scary "Obamessiahists," there are many, many reasonable folks who find Mr. Obama an inspiration in a way we haven't seen since the early days of Reagan, and — to a lesser degree — Clinton.

And too many young people, and intentionally-forgetful older folk, forget what that feels like.

So: good on ya', mates.

There is no wry twist to this post; I can post the parable of the brand-new empty suit some other time. This is merely an observation that very many people have had their eyes opened to the brighter, better world that has been around them all the time, merely through the election of the man.

And that is a good thing.

And it cheers me.

[Thanks for the post, it saves me doing mine. mine was going to be "This is a good thing."]

*I've* noticed these last two days that my eight graders are saying the pledge of allegience louder in the morning.

It's a very pleasant thing to behold.

[note to Wry, if you're not going to be wry, then don't expalin how you're not going to be wry - it supplies the edge you didn't want there in the first place. You're not left-handed, so stop with the left-handed compliments, oh wait, that wording is disrespectful to left-handed people in PC land... how's this:

    "Stop with the sinister compliments."

    Much better.]

Well said. I started to, then stopped, then did, then erased, then stopped, then did. Maybe I shouldn't have.

I'm going to plead, "I couldn't help myself," and admit personal weakness. ;o/

Islamic? Maybe not (although you will recall how I ceaselessly harped on the "Obama / Islamic" connection in virtually all of my posts in the run-up to the election... ;o/ ).

Balsamic? Quite probably -- don't deny it.

Socialist? Depends on what your definition of "is" is, I suppose. The jury hasn't even been convened, however; we haven't reached the stage for them to still be out. I think Mr. Obama's acceptance speech opening, "we are not a collection of individuals" bodes well, don't you?

A reasonable person would not jump that far down that road to that conclusion, so I prefer to wait-and-see.

Hell? Not even close. Although "socialist Islamic" had a nice, new ring to it. I think you've invented a new political system, Cog!

D'oh! In a fit of "treppenwitz," it came to me:

"socialist Islamic hell?" no -- on the contrary -- it will be a socialist Islamic paradise! ;o/

      Now, that's comedy!
