The fam is on their usual Sunday afternoon drive around the shops. Remarkably, they've chosen a Rubio's Mexican eatery to begin the afternoon at... This one is built over The Dump, a small landfill between Ramon Road and the "Dream Homes" neighborhood near the airport.

A few years back, they excavated the whole block, two storeys high for at least a year. Cleaned it all out. Put a Home Depot up, with a buncha satellite stores, Rubio's among them.

But the jet engines throttling up at the airport across the street still sound just like they did when I was a kid.
