10 years in the making

Well, it took until today, I found my Hawaii quarter, and so the task is complete.

I am so glad that there is no apostrophe in Hawaii on the quarter, which shows how recent THAT bit of picayune yet irritating smugness entered our cartography.   All 50 designs were submitted prior to 1998, even though usmint.gov did not spill the beans until official release dates, the designs were all done at the same time.   That's why the Josten's guy or whoever was able to pitch his "outline of the state" (six!) and "relief of the state" (7!) motifs to so many republics and commonwealths...

The best in my opinion?
I love UT and FL.  From the get-go I always liked CT and VT while VA, NC and WV all looked good to me.  ME and MT finish my faves.

Boring?
With DE and MD setting an early "Mendoza line" for creativity. IA, WI, MS, TN, KS and CA all sank almost as low, but in the end it was hard to beat MI, although WY did its best while being completely predictable.  TX is a close 3rd - a VERY close third.  Almost 1st, that.

Congrats to ID, OK, NV and AL for surprises.   HI was predictable, but totally cool, as was NM.

I also think NJ, AK, NE and AR were totally cool as well.

Now I need to find some coin-washer or tarn-x or something to make them shiny.  Yes, I KNOW that "ruins" their value; but they're not mint and will probably never be worth more than $12.50 as a set anyway.

NO, I do not wish to collect presidential dollars.

well...  maybe not...  I dunno.

I too am collecting the state quarters, finishing what Opa and the young-uns started many moons ago.
Sounds like the name of a band or sumpthin'"Opa and the Young-uns" bring you German hits of the Sixties!......aheem....um anyways, all I need is the Hawaii coin and im done.
My fave's are NM , WY , TX , UT. Also NH is now what I'd consider a collector's piece because it displays what was known as "the man of the mountain" on it.(or called something close to that). And that rock formation has since crumbled.

I still look for wheatbacks in change on a daily basis.Gramma got me hooked on that way back when.
