Feliz Chanuka y Navidad: The Delightful Syncretism of a Middle School Holiday Dance

Tonight's motif: Mexican Fiesta Christmas — with some Chanuka figures sprinkled in for good measure. I get to chaperone.

Above: I'm not sure if that is a Christmas gift with the Israeli & Mexican flags on it, but I am going to go with Chanuka present. The candy cane is pure south-of-the-border though.

Above: the sarapes, sombreros and Christmas lights are what drew me into the multi-purpose room for a look-see. I stayed for the Christmas-light cacti and the Santa jalapenos...

The moustachioed tacos and the Mexican dreidl.

What makes this enjoyable to me, is the unreserved enthusiasm lacking in any mean-spiritedness. Wish me and my ears well tonight... I know the DJ, but he is constrained to play a short list of middle-school favorites, featuring Lady Gaga.
